Vinayagar Chaturthi also known as Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayak Chaturthi, ganapathi chaturthi is a major festival of Lord Ganesha. Ganesh is son of Shiva and Parvati. Vinayagar Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth of lord vinayaka. Its a custom that Lord Ganesha also called as Vinayak will be coming to earth to visit his devotees and stay in their house and spread lots of prosperity and happiness.

Vinayak Chaturthi also known as Ganesh Chaturthi is on 29th August 2014.
Ganesha Chaturthi is the Hindu festival celebrated on the birthday (rebirth) of the lord Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati. Vinayagar Chaturthi usually comes in August or September of every year. Vinayaka Chavithi or sometimes Vinayagar Chaturthi) is always celebrated on the fourth day after the new moon in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada

Vinayagar Chaturthi Celebration

The Ganesh Chaturthi 2014 Puja Muhurut to bring the Vigraha / Idol home is during the Shubh, Labh or Amrit Choghadiya. If you intend to bring Ganpati ji one day before, i.e. on the 28th August 2014, the Labh time is between 12:40 and 14:13 and the Amrit time is 14:13 and 15:46. Ganpati ji can also be brought home (Avahana or Welcome) during the Shubh time which is between 17:20 and 18:53. Please note these Timings are as per panchang of Mumbai, India.

The Ganesh Staphna (installation of the Idol) on Ganesh Chaturthi day, i.e. on 29th August 2014 can be done Amrit from 09:33 to 11:06 or Shubh Time i.e. from 12:39 to 14:13.
